Ordinary Bitter
In the 1800s, when English brewers first coined the name, "Ordinary Bitter", no one had ever tasted the intense bite of a hop-heavy IPA. But in today's beer world, where the bar for bitterness is constantly being raised, last century's bitter beers, are this century's mildest offerings. Needless to say, this style name is in desperate need of an update. Plus, to most people, "ordinary bitter" sounds at best, boring, and at worst, unpleasant.
